Reference

This section explains what you see in register extracts, on packaging and in contracts. It covers three topics: company identifiers, official registers and product documents.

Company identifiers

INN (Russia)
Taxpayer identification number: 10 digits for an organisation, 12 for an individual entrepreneur or a private individual.
OGRN and OGRNIP (Russia)
State registration number of the record in the EGRUL (Unified State Register of Legal Entities; 13 digits) or the EGRIP (Unified State Register of Individual Entrepreneurs; 15 digits).
VAT number (EU)
Starts with a two-letter country code. Whether a number is valid for intra-EU transactions can be checked in the VIES system.

Official registers

EGRUL / EGRIP
Russia's government registers of legal entities and individual entrepreneurs; the Federal Tax Service provides the information free of charge at egrul.nalog.ru.
Rosaccreditation registers
Public registers of issued certificates of conformity and registered declarations (pub.fsa.gov.ru).
VIES
The European Commission's system for validating VAT numbers of EU Member States.
National company registers in the EU
Each country has its own register; links to them are collected on the European e-Justice Portal.

Product documents and markings

Certificate of conformity (EAEU)
Issued by an accredited certification body after assessing the product; has a number and a validity period.
Declaration of conformity (EAEU)
Made by the applicant itself — the manufacturer or importer — and registered; it can be checked by its number in the register.
EAC mark
The single mark for products circulating on the EAEU market: it shows that the product has gone through the required conformity assessment procedures.
CE marking
The manufacturer's statement that the product complies with EU legislation; for some products a notified body must be involved.
